Charm is Deceptive

A poem inspired by Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Flimsy, fickle, fleeting

Fair skin can’t hide

Smooth deceptive words heating

Boiling up inside

Father seeks the sincere

Over any charade

He praises those who fear

Along with faith that does not fade

Beauty will shrivel and die

Devotion lives evermore

Charm will continue to whisper the lie

Beauty is vital, nothing less nothing more.

Brava! I often picture our Jesus as a not very attractive man–thinking that the crowds followed Him simply because of His God-ness–Not due to his clear eyes and smooth skin. We will find out soon enough–and in the meantime–we will listen when God gives His words to your faithful heart. This is indeed a lesson we need over and over again.
