Surrender to Freedom

When people think of you do think of you as a person against multiple things? Against drugs, drinking, premarital sex. That’s all good! Keep that, but being a person against things isn’t enough!

As Christ followers we should be for him, for his love, his will, his works. Don’t get caught up in the don’ts, I personally forget that a lot. I get trapped in the mind-set of, well if I just don’t do this then I will be doing what God wants and what is best for me. It’s a good thing in of itself to think, but as I said, simply not enough!

Jesus wants us to be FOR HIM WHOLEHEARTEDLY!! Another word for that? Faith. Without faith in him, we might be people who try to be good (good luck with that) but we will never attain it without faith in Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for whoever comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” A lot of mine, and people’s problems are in tune with fear. Oh that fear grips us and our weak human selves cannot shake that fear. Depressing thought actually.

But wait there’s more! Accept Jesus now and get a life supply of peace.

The exact opposite of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” I’m not talking about fear in the sense you are scared of the monster under your bed. But in the sense of being afraid to depend fully on another.

This was my biggest problem for years. I didn’t want to give God my heart, because I was afraid he would reject it or hurt it like all the others. But I have never been so wrong! It’s hard to trust once you’ve been hurt, I know. But God only looks out for our well-being, and he gives us free will. Which means, we have to have faith enough to surrender ourselves to him.  Trusting that he will meet all out needs. Hebrews 13:5 “God has said ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’”
